Education:

I began my musical education at the age of six learning the guitar, by the age of nine I was also learning the trumpet and soon began performing in Sutton and Croydon Schools Wind bands and Orchestras.

I worked my way through the various Royal Schools of Music exams and music O level, which gave me the chance to join Her Majesties Royal Marines School of Music. I joined in 1987 at the age of Seventeen. Unfortunately there were no vacancies for Trumpet players when I auditioned, however I was given the opportunity to change instruments and be taught the clarinet and violin by the professors at the Royal Marines School of Music. I used my knowledge of music to pass all the necessary exams, and became a professional musician within the Royal Marines Band Service playing the clarinet and violin, after three years intensive training.

Teaching Experience:

I have a growing music business which I started full time in 2002 involving teaching, arranging, performing and also own the website www.music-tutors-uk.com. I am currently the brass, clarinet, saxophone and guitar tutor at the very musical Oakhyrst Grange School in Caterham Surrey. I was the brass tutor at Micklefield School in Reigate where I also taught the overflow of guitar, clarinet and Saxophone students, lastly I am the clarinet and brass tutor for Claygate Scout and Guide Band in Surrey.

I only teach instruments at which I am able to maintain at least grade 8 level. Although I passed the required exams on Violin it was not an instrument I excelled at so, although I have been asked I do not teach it.

After playing around the world for the Royal Marines, I left to teach music and perform in civilian bands. In 1995 I met up with Paul Brennan and we formed the Trad Jazz Band "The Dixieland Stompers" in which I played solo trumpet.

Performing:

I have been lucky enough to perform around the world in a variety of locations including Russia, Romania, Sweden, New York and The Falklands.

I have also performed at The Albert Hall, Earls Court & Wembley football stadium during two FA Cup finals, but I have to say that I get the same buzz from the interaction with audiences in pubs and clubs.

My musical tastes are quite diverse ranging from classical to rock music, hence the amount of instruments played and different style bands.
